How much do lessons cost?

How long are lessons?

Lessons for beginners are typically 30 minutes. You’d be amazed at how much can be accomplished in that amount of time. As you progress, you might want a little more time. For intermediate players and above, 45 and 60 minute lessons can be arranged.

Do I need my own instrument?

Yes, you will need to provide your own instrument. If you need an instrument and don’t know where to start, gimme a shout-out! I absolutely love helping people shop for guitars, ukuleles, basses, keyboards, drums, amplifiers, tambourines, harmonicas, you name it!

Do I need to read music?

No. Some of the best musicians in the world don’t know how to read music. Do you know what Elvis, Michael Jackson, and The Beatles all have in common? None of them could read music!

However………..I do try to sneak in a little note reading and music theory now and then. Before I got my degree in music, I thought music theory would only inhibit my boundless musical talent and creativity. Boy, was I wrong. As a professional musician and songwriter, I know that understanding the basic concepts of music theory has made me more powerful than I ever could have imagined! Bwah-ha-ha!

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

No problem. Let me know 48 hrs in advance of the lesson you need to cancel and we can try to reschedule.

What do I need for my first virtual lesson?

All you need is your instrument, a computer or mobile device, and an internet connection. Lesson materials are sent via email.

How do I tune my guitar?

Tuning a guitar can be tricky if you’re a beginner. Luckily, there are lots of great tuning apps available for your smart phone. Gimme a shout out if you need some recommendations. You can also go old school and buy an electronic tuner. (I strongly recommend an app though…..) Once you have one, I’ll help you figure out how to use it.

What days and times are lessons taught?

Lessons are typically taught between 3pm and 8pm, Pacific Time. However, exceptions can always be made and I’d be happy to figure something out if those times aren’t convenient.
